Total Coats commenced powder coating in 1983 and have been powder coating products continuously since that time. Our experienced staff have a combined 100+ years of powder coating knowledge and this experience helps deliver technical expertise to answer any question regarding your powder coating requirements.

Started by Merv Sharp, who still works as a consultant to the business, Total Coats have been at their present site at 362 Rosebank Road, Avondale since 1996, and turn over is in excess of one million dollars anually.

"Our aim is to offer the best service and quality of any powder coating company in New Zealand."

Total Coats apply a powder coat to a range of steel and aluminium products such as computer cabinets, lighting fittings, furniture, brackets, shelving, electronic panels, framing, metal bins, car parts and more. We have the ability to coat pieces up to 3 metres in length and offer a range of pre-treatments and powders from companies including Dulux, PPG, Akso Nobel, Insoltech and others.

In 2012 Mark Sargent took ownership of Total Coats. Mark has a 30 year background in management roles at manufacturing companies like Amcor, Visy and Portola as well as acting as a consultant to the likes of Fonterra and Charlies. I have been very careful to retain all the inherent strengths of Total Coats, being the people and the strong systems, and really have only tweaked what has always been a very efficient and successful business.

Two key people at Total Coats are Trevor Bartlett and John Morman who share 45 years experience between them. Trevor and John run the operational side of the business, oversee quality control and have a lot of interaction with customers. Trevor and John have a wealth of industry knowledge meaning they have seen or dealt with most issues before.

The rest of the staff have all worked for Total Coats for a number of years and the culture and pride that goes into every part we coat is a key ingredient of why customers keep coming back to Total Coats.
